Pastor Sharon Denise Murray Ogilvie

Pastor Sharon Denise Murray Ogilvie is the daughter of the late Herbert H Murray and Odesser Batts Murray. She is the sixth of seven children, married to Leon Ogilvie and is favored by God to be the mother of Jason and Jesika, the grandmother of J’Marion, Jeremias, Immerson, Harmony, and Marcus, and is the godmother to Europe. Sharon gave the preacher her hand January 12, 1972 but gave the Lord her heart in 1989.
She is a graduate of Shelbyville Central High school with a major in business. Sharon earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Business Management from Bethel University. She has been employed 26 years by Signode dba Shippers Products where she is presently the Accounting Specialist, managing Payroll, Credit, Sales & Use Taxes, and Fleet Administration. She is the President of the Maury County and Surrounding Areas AME Ministerial Alliance and Vice President of the Non-Denomination Union in Mt Pleasant and is a member of the Stand Together Fellowship.
Sharon announced her calling in ministry in June 1997 and preached her trial sermon, October 11, 1997 at her home church, Wayman Chapel AME Church. From 1998 – 1999 she served as supply minister at Dean Chapel AME Church, Culleoka TN under the supervision of the late Rev. William F. Scruggs. She was ordained a Deacon in 2006 in the African Methodist Episcopal Church and began her pastoral charge to serve the congregation at Roberts Chapel, Linden TN. She pastored that congregation for 5 years. In 2011 Bishop Vashti Murphy-McKenzie ordained her an Itinerate Elder. Pastor Ogilvie was then appointed to serve Jones Chapel AME Church, Mount Pleasant, TN and faithfully served there for 7 years. On September 1, 2018 Rev. Ogilvie is privileged and honored to serve as the first daughter of Wayman Chapel AME Church to receive the appointment to pastor her home church. It was because of God’s grace and the unction of the Holy Spirit leading the Right Rev. Jeffrey N. Leath, Presiding Prelate, to assign the appointment after the passing of her pastor/big brother in ministry, the late Rev. Victor W. Goodman. All the glory belongs to HIM!!!
Pastor Ogilvie loves spending time with family and friends. She gets excited when talking about the goodness of the Lord. She loves the Lord and is born again. She knows she was called to be a vessel to encourage, inspire, and equip others to develop a deeper relationship with the Lord. Her favorite scripture, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6; a principle for which she firmly believes and applies to her lifestyle.
